Jordain Tamai, AMFT, APCC

Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist & Associate Professional Clinical Counselor

I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC). I work with high-functioning adolescents and adults who feel overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck in survival mode. Many of my clients are individuals who appear capable on the outside but feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. They often know something feels off, experiencing anxiety, irritability, low mood, or burnout without fully understanding why.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. I integrate CBT, ACT, and neuroscience-informed psychoeducation to help clients understand their inner experiences, regulate emotions, and develop practical tools for change. Together, we explore how stress and trauma impact the brain and nervous system, identify unhelpful patterns, and build skills that support balance and clarity.

A core part of my work focuses on values and meaning. Therapy isn’t about fixing you it’s about understanding what has shaped you and creating space for growth, authenticity, and a more intentional life.

I offer culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirmative care informed by my multiracial background and over a decade of experience working with diverse communities, including military families, youth, fitness and martial arts spaces, agricultural communities, and adolescents in alternative education settings. This background allows me to bring a grounded, real-world perspective to therapy and a deep respect for resilience across different walks of life.

Clients often describe me as approachable, grounded, and genuinely easy to connect with. Many share that therapy feels more human and collaborative, and for some, it’s the first time they’ve experienced meaningful progress. I show up with the same dedication and intention I ask of my clients, so the work we do together feels worthwhile. Clients often leave therapy feeling more grounded, clear, and capable of navigating daily life.

I offer individual therapy via telehealth throughout California, as well as in-person sessions when available, and I practice under the supervision of a licensed clinician. If you’re ready to do the work, let’s get started.
